Police Employment

Qualified applicants must currently be OPOTA certified or currently attending an OPOTA Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age with a clean driving record and able to pass a background/CVSA.

The Village of Fayetteville is always looking for motivated and passionate people to join the ranks. As an auxiliary police officer once successfully completed Field Training Program, he/she will perform the duties of a sworn law enforcement officer. Duties include but not limited to; crime prevention, traffic enforcement, crash investigations, security and safety of prisoners and protection of the public.   Auxiliary officers must be available to work (16) hours per month, mostly weekends and 2nds shifts. Our Part-time officers are hired from our Auxiliary.

Hiring Process:

  • Fill out application and background package
  • Review of application and packet
  • Thorough background investigation
  • Oral Board interview
  • CVSA (Polygraph) testing
  • Interview with Chief of Police
